Secondary School Voucher System

The public school system is depriving our leaders of tomorrow and the only way of correcting this problem is to implement the voucher system. The voucher system is a method by which poor and middle class families are given certificates subsidized by the government to pay for the education of their children at the school of their choice rather than an education from a struggling and dilapidated public school system.
Prince George’s County is a clear an unfortunate example of how secondary public education is in essence an ineffective means of sharpening the skills needed for children to succeed in life. These schools are still fighting the prevalent themes of the 1950s when segregation was a large issue. The voucher system would alleviate this problem because families would now have the alternative choice of sending their child to a different school where learning is the main focus of the students and teachers. This in turn would create competition among schools in that given area as stated in Education Vouchers. Families would now send their children to the best performing schools while the underperforming schools would go out of business because families would not want their child to receive an education from that school. The Journal of Blacks in Higher Education corroborates the idea of a voucher system and even states that two thirds of African Americans agree with vouchers.
Incentives matter is one of the eight guidepost of economics and it does not pertain more than to the voucher system. Teacher’s salaries would be performance based which would eliminate tenure. Tenure has always been a problem in public schools because once teachers are tenured they know no matter how much effort they put into their work their salaries are the same. In the voucher system teachers would be rewarded for hard work and effectiveness in teaching. Incentives give teachers the heightened awareness of performing to the best of the abilities to facilitate some form of reward.
The voucher system is the best alternative for a school system like that of Maryland’s Fourth District. Many people will reap the benefits of this system and in the end our future generation will be better prepared for the world they enter.

I agree with this proposition because our future generation is getting deprived by our public school system

i agree that our public schools in this country need a lot of help and one way to improve this is to make all private schools and eliminate all public schools. however i believe that this is irrational beccause i am a product of a public school and loved my public school experiance. Maybe just make all private schools in the bad parts of Baltimore??
